I have an AA in Theology from Christ For The Nations Institute in Dallas; a BS in Journalism from The University of Kansas; and a Master in Educational Leadership from FloridaAtlanticUniversity.
I've been married for 28 years to my seraphic wife Roberta. We have three children: Leah, 26; Marianne, 23; and Bobby, 20. Leah is married to Michael Miller. We have three grandchildren: Nathaniel, 6, Emmilina, 2, and Carson Paul, 1. Marianne, a graduate of Morningside, graduated from the University of Kansas in May 2008. She works in the field of textile design in Stuart. Bobby, also a Morningside grad, is a junior on golf scholarship at TreveccaNazareneUniversity. Next to God, I love my family more than anything!
My family and I moved to PSL in August 1992 after seven years on the mission field. The first Sunday in PSL we began attending MorningsideChurch. I began subbing in October. I became a 3rd- grade teacher during the 93/94 school year and then taught two years of 5th grade. In 1996 I moved across the boulevard to the UpperSchool, where I have served ever since. I have worn many hats at the UpperSchool: guidance counselor, assistant principal, athletic director, teacher (English, Bible, Communications, European History, Economics), coach – 30+ seasons of golf, baseball, basketball, soccer, and volleyball), and director of student services.
I graduated from a Christian K-12 school some 30 years ago. I know how important my alma mater was in my development spiritually and academically. I loved every minute of high school back then, and I am able to still attend school and love every minute of my "job" now. I love encouraging, exhorting, and mentoring our students. I see the potential and talents in each and every one of our students, and I want Morningside to hone, stretch, and challenge our students for success in college, career, family, and future callings. I am encouraged that so many of our graduates have excelled at the university and career levels. We are an extension of the family in that we care about the triune wellness of our students in spirit, mind, and body.
Reading, history, political science, gardening, cooking for the family and friends, browsing farmers' markets, the NY Mets, travel, the Food Channel, emailing friends, making people laugh, the Kansas Jayhawks, the NY Giants, vacationing with my family in the NY Metro area, encouraging others, and seeing God's beauty in creation are my hobbies and interests.
My favorite Bible verses are Proverbs 3:5-6. God wants us to trust in Him with all our hearts, realizing that His ways are usually not our ways. Once we learn to trust in Him implicitly, we realize that He will direct all of our paths in life: educational, professional, relational, and spiritual.
