About Me: Mrs. Klassen

I received my early education in Canada, where I attended, and graduated from the University of Windsor, Ontario with certification in teaching. It was also in Canada that I taught Math and English in the middle school area for five years.

In 1978, my husband and I, along with our two young sons, moved to Port St. Lucie, Florida. Our family owned several businesses over the following years, but my first passion remained education. I substituted in schools where my sons attended, and remained an involved parent as much as possible.

In the early 1980’s, I had the great privilege of serving on a fact-finding committee as Morningside Church investigated the possibility of opening a Christian school. In 1987, Morningside Academy was born with 33 students in Kindergarten and first grade. I continued to substitute teach at Morningside as it grew and enjoyed the opportunity to teach second grade for two years at the school. In 1995, I moved from the classroom to the administrative realm as I became Administrative Assistant to Mrs. Brenda Walsh.

I returned to school and earned a degree in organizational management from Warner Southern, while taking over the role as Lower School Principal.

As I begin my thirteenth year as administrator at Morningside Academy, I am more excited than ever about the opportunity that I have to be involved in this ministry. Serving with gifted and devoted staff, challenging a motivated and fun group of students, and supporting their parents is a blessing. I am so grateful to our Heavenly Father for placing this calling on my life at an early age, and then providing the training and chance to be used in His service.

I look forward to each new day at Morningside Academy – a fresh opportunity to touch young lives in the name of Christ.

My favorite Scripture verse:

“For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:38,39
